PEOPLE’s Sexiest Man Alive is back – and ready to save the president!
In White House Down, Channing Tatum plays John Cale, a police officer who takes his daughter on a tour of the White House only to realize he’s the only person who can save the president (Jamie Foxx) from a violent invasion, Moviefone.com reports.
The explosion-heavy film comes from director Roland Emmerich – who also directed Independence Day, The Day After Tomorrow and 2012. Tatum, 32, is no stranger to playing an action hero – he’s also starring in G.I. Joe: Retaliation with Bruce Willis. And playing a dad should come naturally to the actor, who is expecting his first child with wife Jenna Dewan-Tatum.
White House Down arrives in theaters June 28.
Making G.I. Joe: Retaliation with Channing Tatum, Bruce Willis and the Rock, Adrianne Palicki was not one to be intimidated – not after all the noises they made.
“I’m more macho than all those guys,” the actress, perhaps best known for TV’s Friday Night Lights (2006-11), boasts to PEOPLE. “You spend that much time with them – you hear them burp, fart – you immediately become one of the dudes.”
Tatum, it seems, also did something even more for the gang.
Speaking at New York’s Drive In Studios during an Axe Face event earlier this month, Palicki, 29, said of PEOPLE’s 2012 Sexiest Man Alive: “He’s a goofball. I love the guy so much. He’s a clown, and he would randomly break into song and dance when it was suppose to be serious. He kept everybody laughing.”
Though she ducked a question on whether she has a current romantic interest (“Oh ? I don’t know”), she does admit to having a type when asked if she’d choose between Friday Night Lights’s studly but troubled Tim Riggins (Taylor Kitch) or sweet and sensitive Landry Clarke (Jesse Plemons).
“Probably Riggins when I was younger, but I’m going to say Landry now that I’m older,” she says. “I want someone who is stable and awesome, and a good person who treats me well.”
G.I. Joe: Retaliation opens March 28.
I added the first few pictures of Channing and Jenna looking sweet at the Academy Awards! Channing is looking dapper in a Gucci suit:
Who is your bump wearing?
Parents-to-be Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan-Tatum brought a very special guest to Sunday night’s 85th Annual Academy Awards – wearing a black lace, backless dress by Rachel Roy, Dewan-Tatum, 32, showed off her new curves, while husband Tatum revealed where their baby will be born.
“I’m walking the carpet, trying to keep it together tonight but we’re good!” a radiant Dewan-Tatum told Ryan Seacrest on the red carpet Sunday night.
When asked by Seacrest if the couple had any plans to slow down for some “family time,” Tatum, 32, replied: “We’re gonna actually have the baby in London while I’m shooting so there will be no downtime whatsoever after that.”
Tatum – who was named PEOPLE’s 2012 Sexiest Man Alive – recently told PEOPLE that he’s doing his homework before the baby arrives.
“I have never changed a diaper before, so I may need some help learning,” the actor said at the time. “I don’t have friends who have kids, so it’s going to be an interesting experience to learn how to change a diaper.”
The couple’s first child is due this summer.
Channing Tatum will make his debut on the Academy Awards stage this month as one of four newly announced special guests who are joining the Feb. 24 broadcast.
“We are quite excited to have Charlize, Chan, Joe and Dan join us on the show,” said telecast producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron. “We are happy to feature them as special guests in our production.”
The 85th annual Academy Awards will air live on Sunday, Feb. 24, on ABC from the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.
He’s the sexiest man in the world, not to mention a rising star, and he’s soon to be a dad! So how is Channing Tatum preparing for the arrival of his first baby with wife Jenna Dewan-Tatum? With lots of chocolate.
Channing Tatum plays with sticky balls…but it’s not what you think
The Side Effects star was sweet enough to take E! News on a tour of his New Orleans bar, Saints and Sinners, and talk about his other baby—the one due later this year.
“We don’t know” if it’s a boy or girl, the Mississippi native says. “We’re going to be surprised. It’s one of the only real surprises you’re ever going to get that’s legit.”
Meantime, Tatum says, his wife is experiencing a craving, albeit an understandable one.
Jenna baby bumps to the gym
“She never really ate sweets before,” he says, “but she loves sweets now. She loves chocolate and that whole thing, but nothing really out of the ordinary, nothing like pickles and icing, nothing weird.”
And oh, one other thing about Jenna’s pregnancy: “I think it’s one of the sexiest things ever!”

First time dad-to-be Channing Tatum already in baby mode – studying baby books and watching documentaries.
But there’s one thing he’s still lacking: mastering the art of diapering.
“I have never changed a diaper before, so I may need some help learning,” Tatum, 32, told PEOPLE at Thursday’s New York premiere of his new movie Side Effects, presented by the Cinema Society and Michael Kors.
“I don’t have friends who have kids, so it’s going to be an interesting experience to learn how to change a diaper. I hope I don’t have any problems where the diaper falls off and the baby [poops] on the ground,” said PEOPLE’s Sexiest Man Alive, whose baby with wife Jenna Dewan-Tatum, 32, is due this summer.
“But once the baby is born, I’ll definitely do the diaper changing. If it means touching the [poop] and getting peed on, I’ll still do it. I’m up for the challenge.”
One thing the Magic Mike star has mastered is keeping his pregnant wife relaxed and happy.
“Oh man, I’m not even getting into what I do to pamper Jenna. I’m doing anything that she asks for,” he said.
“She jokes to me all the time by saying, ‘If I feel good, then the baby feels good or if I’m happy, then the baby is happy.’ And I’m like, that is such an urban myth. You’re just saying that to get me to do everything for you,” he said.
“I know it’s probably true, but I like to joke about it and she hates it. I’ll go to the store to pick up shakes or give her a thousand foot rubs. A foot rub now until the nine months if I have to just to keep her happy and comfortable.”
