Channing Tatum will be announced as “Sexiest Man Alive” by People next week, Gossip Cop has learned exclusively.

The Magic Mike star is expected to be unveiled as the magazine’s choice on November 14.

People picked Bradley Cooper last year, with Ryan Reynolds receiving the honor in 2010.

Tatum has been in the “Sexiest Man Alive” issue before, but never as the top choice.

When reached, a rep for People magazine told Gossip Cop, “We never comment on who the Sexiest Man Alive is until the issue is revealed.”

Gossip Cop also reached out to a rep for Tatum for comment.

A mystery is afoot. And it has to do with the new G.I. Joe: Retaliation international trailer.

It’s not the mystery actually featured within the trailer — the one concerning a nefarious U.S. president who turns out to actually be an evil doppelganger of the kidnapped head of state. It has to do with the fact that in this two-and-a-half minute video, we see approximately five seconds of Mr. Channing Tatum.

You might recall that the developing G.I. Joe flick was supposed to actually hit theaters this past summer, before it was announced — pretty close to the release date, in fact — that the movie would be pushed back until March of 2013. We all speculated that the delay had everything to do with the lack of focus paid to Tatum, who became a superstar after his casting in this film. The film was to be converted to 3D, but the world assumed that announed reshoots were also intended to give Tatum a larger and more central role — a logical move considering the popularity of the young actor. But the new trailer doesn’t seem to offer any indication of the sort. We’re just as Tatumless as we were before.

The one scene that does feature Tatum slates him as star Dwayne Johnson’s babysitter — hardly the hero position we all assumed he’d be taking. Then, things explode, and we never see him again. The rest of the trailer focuses on Johnson’s ragtag team of Adrianne Palicki, D.J. Cotrona, Ray Park, and the ringer Bruce Willis, and their mission to faceoff against the president impersonator.

Thus, our steadfast hypotheses on why G.I. Joe: Retaliation was heading back into the furnace are shot to hell. Why didn’t they amp up the Tatum?

That is the question plaguing the world right now. Check out the trailer below, compare it to trailers of past, and let us know come up with a good theory… we’re dyin’ here! We need an answer!

Yes, Channing Tatum is coming back to New Orleans — and, yes, he’s ready to party, as his Bourbon Street club Saints & Sinners is on the verge of opening. But don’t run out to refresh your supply of singles just yet.

The Internet was abuzz today after the New York Post’s Page 6 column reported this morning that Tatum and longtime business partner Keith Kurtz will open the club for business this weekend. And there was more: “We’re told Tatum… has invited his (‘Magic Mike’) co-stars including Matt Bomer and Joe Manganiello and other Hollywood pals, as well as wife Jenna Dewan, to the grand opening — and we hear they’re planning a wild show in keeping with the venue’s name.”

Turns out, though, that the Post’s report might have been overplaying things a bit. In a brief email exchange today, Kurtz said the club, located at 627 Bourbon St., will not be holding a grand opening this weekend as reported.

So maybe a “soft” opening is in order? Could be — but Kurtz referred further questions to Tatum’s Los Angeles-based publicist, who has yet to respond to a request for comment.

Kurtz did stress, however, that Saints & Sinners, contrary to what various websites are reporting, isn’t a “Magic Mike” restaurant — a reference to the Steven Soderbergh film in which Tatum starred as a male stripper earlier this year. It’s not hard to see the confusion, though. Its website sells it as an establishment that “harkens back to the days when bordellos were where you went for heavenly company and a sinfully good time.”
It continues: “After countless childhood visits and several on-location film shoots, actor Channing Tatum, along with long-time friend and business partner Keith Kurtz, fell in love with the Big Easy’s laissez les bon temps rouler attitude and colorful history in a big way. Styled after the famous red-light district bordellos and burlesque halls of New Orleans’ Storyville era, Saints & Sinners is Tatum’s tribute to the city’s ribald, good-time reputation.”

The Saints & Sinners website also includes a menu, which includes what would appear to be an upscale take on standard late-night fare — burgers, po-boys, libations — as well as a selection of traditional Louisiana cuisine, including jambalaya, etouffee, and alligator tail.

Also on the menu: something called “CK’s Fat Madam Burger Challenge,” which involves a 4-pound burger with all the fixings. Finish it in 30 minutes or less and it’s free. (You’re on your own when it comes to the Alka-Seltzer.)

So back to the big question: Will you see Tatum performing a “Magic Mike” routine on-stage on Bourbon Street this weekend? Well, who’s to know? Sazeracs do funny things to fellows. But don’t count on it.

Tatum, who spent much of spring 2011 in town shooting the action-comedy “21 Jump Street,” revealed his plans for Saints & Sinners in an interview with The Times-Picayune in March.

“I love New Orleans, man. I love the spirit of New Orleans,” he said. “I think (’21 Jump Street’ co-star) Jonah (Hill) wrapped it up perfectly: He said it’s like the bad-kid island in ‘Pinocchio.’ The Bourbon Street area, Frenchmen, everything. It’s just such a vibrant place. I love it down there..

“I don’t think I’d ever open a bar anywhere else really, because I don’t want to try to get people there. But people come to New Orleans with a little bit of money in their pocket and they have one thing they want to do with it — and that’s spend it and party with it and go crazy. And I want to help facilitate that.”

The bar won’t be Tatum’s only tie to the region. Although he spent his teenage years in Tampa, Fla., he lived in the Pascagoula, Miss., area for much of his grade-school years. In addition, his father, Glenn Tatum, is from Metairie.

When in Rome – or further north, say, up near Lake Como – you could do a lot worse than having George Clooney as your personal Italian guide.

Channing Tatum and his wife Jenna Dewan, who are vacationing in Italy, enjoyed the hospitality of PEOPLE’s former Sexiest Man Alive Clooney and his girlfriend, Stacy Keibler, near Clooney’s villa this weekend. Also joining them: Clooney’s parents.

The four were photographed enjoying a boat ride, and also reportedly had dinner together.

It’s been a whirlwind year for Tatum, 32, a sexy guy himself, whose movie Magic Mike, loosely based on the actor’s own stripping past, opened June 29 to solid reviews and strong box office.

Meanwhile, Clooney, 51, has been enjoying some down time in Lake Como with Keibler, his girlfriend of a year, for more than a month now. They seem to be enjoying themselves immensely, aside from one tiny (and unfortunate) bout of food poisoning.

Channing Tatum is set to pull off his biggest stunt yet.

The red-hot Magic Mike actor is in negotiations to star in and produce a film about ’70s daredevil Evel Knievel for Columbia Pictures. Tatum will produce with his Iron Horse Entertainment partner Reid Carolin, who also will write the screenplay.

Also on board to produce is one of the town’s hottest producing teams in Mike De Luca and Dana Brunetti, who just landed the hotly contested Fifty Shades of Grey producing gig for Universal Pictures and Focus Features.

Born Robert Craig Knievel, the stuntman became a household name in the 1970s for his nationally televised motorcycle jumps. Ever the showman, Knievel became recognizable for his use of a Stars-and-Stripes getup and known for his 433 broken bones. At the height of his celebrity, he gained endorsements from Harley-Davidson and a toy line by the Ideal Toy Co. Knievel died in 2007 at 69.

Tatum isn’t the first actor to portray the famed thrill-seeker. George Hamilton starred in the 1971 film titled Evel Knievel, while Knievel himself toplined the 1977 film Viva Knievel!

The Tatum vehicle is based on Stuart Barker’s 2008 book Life of Evel.

Thanks to a string of hits including the semi-autobiographical ode to the male stripper Magic Mike, Tatum has enjoyed his pick of plum projects. He next will shoot Bennett Miller’s Foxcatcher, based on another true-life character, Olympic wrestler Mark Schultz.

Tatum and Carolin are repped by UTA and Management 360.
